Hey y'all!
It's a beautiful day to save lives! Today for zone pday we had a water balloon fight which was fun. 85⁰ and sunny with some nice watermelon soothes the soul.
This week we had interviews with our mission president. We were verrrry bad and were late but all is forgiven. It's so amazing to see how inspired President Bailey is. That man unintentionally answered questions I was too afraid to ask! He is very wise. Also got to talk with Sister Bailey a bit about my Spanish studies. Learning a language is SO fun. Looking forward to wherever it takes me!
Earlier this week we had the opportunity to go visit a referral who we'd never met. Before we went in to go see this guy Jason, we decided to street contact a lady outside the apartment and ask if she'd be interested. She said she was totally down to learn so that was awesome! She asked if we were there visiting anyone and turned out Jason is her boyfriend! We've since visited with her and we're not sure what will happen with them yet. We are sure that everything happens for a reason!
We also definitely saw some lady get confounded which was CRAZY cool. We had met with her to do Bible studies for a while then asked if we could tell her a bit about what we believe. Less than 5 minutes in she just bashed us for probably 30 minutes straight. We very kindly and respectfully agreed to disagree and went our separate ways. A week later she asked to meet again so we could answer some questions. Long story longer we taught her all about the plan of salvation and answered as many questions as she could remember. She told us that "if you guys have the truth, I want to know it." Each time she'd try to find a scripture for a rebuttal, she couldn't find it. She said she had just read these scriptures earlier and wasn't sure why she couldn't find them. She told us she felt like her mind was "dammed up". Definitely saw God's hand there in that if she wanted to hear the truth, she was going to hear it.
This is quite the extensive email but ONE MORE THING. We had why I believe this Sunday so people that were recently baptized speak on why they chose to follow Christ. Our friend Dave who was baptized two weeks ago spoke! It was so wonderful to hear him speak from his heart and express his testimony. He's such a sweet guy and so ready to live the gospel. He was able to receive the Priesthood yesterday as well! AND he sold his house yesterday. Another miracle there, they had to accept an offer yesterday so he wasn't sure he'd be able to make it to speak. I guess someone needed to hear his testimony because the Lord made it happen!
If you don't already know, God is so aware of you. His hand is in all things if you just look for it.
Jesus loves you,
Sister Katie Troy
Follow up on last week's Iowa picture: I PROMISE I don't hate Iowa yall oh my goodness! My mission covers Nebraska, Iowa, and a few other states. The football rivalry between Nebraska and Iowa is a BIG deal here so if you saw my Iowa picture, that's from a NE fans Facebook. I guess while I'm serving in NE I'll be a huskers fan and if I get back to IA I'll go back to being a Hawkeye fan! Hopefully that made sense. Just know that the NOM (Nebraska Omaha Mission) is the promised land ;)
