snowcones and sunshine

 Hey yall!

Amazing week in the NOM. Lots of miracles and opportunities to see the Lord's hand.

We got to have dinner with one of our friends this week, she's super sweet! Angelica is a teacher so we got to go out and celebrate the last day of school with her. She plans to finish the book of Mormon this summer and we gladly agreed to support her in her efforts haha. Putting in a plug for the book of Mormon real quick.... if you haven't checked it out, do it! There's no harm in it even if you're just curious of what it's about. There's an introduction page that explains its purpose and where it came from:)

We did a lot of service this week, probably close to six hours which is a lot for us. SO MANY people are moving or just trying to finish up spring cleaning.

Highlight of the week: Sister Christensen and I got to attend the temple with Dave! Usually we only get to go when it's their first time but since we didn't get to go that time and they're moving in a couple weeks, we got the go ahead from our mission president! Afterwards we got to have a lesson on Temples. We read this verse:

"And behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom; that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God." Mosiah 2:17

If you are interested in learning more about what Temples are for you can Google "Rome Italy temple tour". There's a great video that explains why Temples are so special to our religion!

Church was awesome this week, one of our friends randomly showed up halfway through! We hadn't heard from her in days so when she showed up it was a huge happy surprise! Turns out her phone was dead so she couldn't text us and tell us she was coming. She actually looked up directions on her laptop so she could get to the church. She brought her 2 year old too and they both loved it! Turns out her high-school best friend is also in our ward...CRAZY! So happy she made it and certainly a miracle.

Hopefully you guys had a wonderful week too. Be sure to look for miracles in your life, even if they're small. They're there!

Jesus loves you,

Right NOW?!

Hey yall!

Lots of miracles this week! Our friend Angelica was gone for a couple weeks on vacation but plans to come back to church. And she invited us to dinner again which is sooo nice. She's the sweetest.

Funny story about our friend Roxanne, we committed her to keep the word of wisdom (she just needed to quit coffee). A couple days later she started a new job and caved. She felt so bad she told us what happened haha. She had one cup of coffee but it wasn't enough so she had another cup and she threw it up. She told us she'd never drink coffee again! God works in mysterious ways haha.

We taught our friend Ruby about Prophets this week. She was in compete disbelief that we had a modern day prophet. "Right now?", "yep right now.", "right now?" It continued haha! She was so excited and demanded to see pictures and videos of him. Reminded me that I take things like that for granted.

"For there are many yet on the earth among all sects, parties, and denominations, who are blinded by the subtle craftiness of men, whereby they lie in wait to deceive, and who are only kept from the truth because they know not where to find it." Doctrine and Covenants 123:12

So much happened this week! Thanks for following me on this journey :)

God's timing is always right

 Hey y'all!

It's a beautiful day to save lives! Today for zone pday we had a water balloon fight which was fun. 85⁰ and sunny with some nice watermelon soothes the soul.

This week we had interviews with our mission president. We were verrrry bad and were late but all is forgiven. It's so amazing to see how inspired President Bailey is. That man unintentionally answered questions I was too afraid to ask! He is very wise. Also got to talk with Sister Bailey a bit about my Spanish studies. Learning a language is SO fun. Looking forward to wherever it takes me!

Earlier this week we had the opportunity to go visit a referral who we'd never met. Before we went in to go see this guy Jason, we decided to street contact a lady outside the apartment and ask if she'd be interested. She said she was totally down to learn so that was awesome! She asked if we were there visiting anyone and turned out Jason is her boyfriend! We've since visited with her and we're not sure what will happen with them yet. We are sure that everything happens for a reason!

We also definitely saw some lady get confounded which was CRAZY cool. We had met with her to do Bible studies for a while then asked if we could tell her a bit about what we believe. Less than 5 minutes in she just bashed us for probably 30 minutes straight. We very kindly and respectfully agreed to disagree and went our separate ways. A week later she asked to meet again so we could answer some questions. Long story longer we taught her all about the plan of salvation and answered as many questions as she could remember. She told us that "if you guys have the truth, I want to know it." Each time she'd try to find a scripture for a rebuttal, she couldn't find it. She said she had just read these scriptures earlier and wasn't sure why she couldn't find them. She told us she felt like her mind was "dammed up". Definitely saw God's hand there in that if she wanted to hear the truth, she was going to hear it.

This is quite the extensive email but ONE MORE THING. We had why I believe this Sunday so people that were recently baptized speak on why they chose to follow Christ.  Our friend Dave who was baptized two weeks ago spoke! It was so wonderful to hear him speak from his heart and express his testimony. He's such a sweet guy and so ready to live the gospel. He was able to receive the Priesthood yesterday as well! AND he sold his house yesterday. Another miracle there, they had to accept an offer yesterday so he wasn't sure he'd be able to make it to speak. I guess someone needed to hear his testimony because the Lord made it happen!

If you don't already know, God is so aware of you. His hand is in all things if you just look for it.

Follow up on last week's Iowa picture: I PROMISE I don't hate Iowa yall oh my goodness! My mission covers Nebraska, Iowa, and a few other states. The football rivalry between Nebraska and Iowa is a BIG deal here so if you saw my Iowa picture, that's from a NE fans Facebook. I guess while I'm serving in NE I'll be a huskers fan and if I get back to IA I'll go back to being a Hawkeye fan! Hopefully that made sense. Just know that the NOM (Nebraska Omaha Mission) is the promised land ;)

have mercy this heat...

 Hey yall!

Coming at you live from the hottest stickiest place in the Midwest 🤠 Today we went to the zoo for pday with all the sisters! It was super fun but man was it hot. And sticky. I swear I've never sweat so much.

This week we did lots and lots of service. Over 6 hours worth! The weather was nice for service though, around the 60s. But the weather has taken a turn for the worse... probably going to be 80 and above from here on out. Yikes. Not my vibe.

We also had exchanges! No pics though so sorry. Got to go back to the pac mill (pacific ridges/old mill) area again! It was lots of fun learning and seeing the area again! I exchanged with Sister Hamilton who is just 2 transfers older than me but has been an STL (sister training leader) for 3 transfers. Mind blown. She's amazing! OH WOW ALMOST FORGOT we got some rolled ice cream at the end of the day and not only was it SO good but it was delicately made by a blind man named Bao.

We set our friend Roxanne on date to be baptized this week, we're so excited for her! She's really excited to read the book of Mormon and come to church. She's never been baptized and wants to be baptized in the right place. She'll go far with her mom who will soon be on date... look out for that.

Two of our friends came to church this week, Ruby and Angelica. Ruby is the lady from Togo whose first language is French. Its been a challenge for sure but she's a wonderful lady. So humble and willing to learn.

Gotta go crush some elders in spikeball. Jk...kinda. catch yall later! Wishing you a beautiful may week!!

el bautismo

 Hey yall!

This week was pretty slow but ended with a bang!

We had good weather for half the week so we did some service projects and did some of our studies outside.

LOTS of food this week. We had some VERY generous members bless us with a TON of food. And no we did not ask for it, they just handed it to us 😭

Also celebrated my month mark a little late with some lovely pizzookies courtesy of the Troy fam <3

One of our friends, Ashley is on date to be baptized. She is getting so excited! She planned out the next three weeks to us day by day to show us she was ready to go. She's so funny that way. She recently moved into the Council Bluffs area (which was my last) and I know she'll fit in so well in that ward. We'll have to pass her off to those missionaries before she gets baptized though :/

On Sunday our friend Dave was baptized! It was lots of fun setting everything up. Nothing brings greater joy than helping someone make that promise with God. The spirit was so strong in that room- probably the strongest I've ever felt. The temple president confirmed him as a member and it was powerful.

Mosiah 18:8-11 describes Dave's desire perfectly. Verses 8-10 is Alma describing who a person needs to become to be baptized. Verse 11 is the response of the people and says "And now when the people had heard these words, they clapped their hands for joy, and exclaimed: This is the desire of our hearts."
